project selection

Project selection is the method of selecting the initiatives that will become projects. mbh's research indicates that it is during the project selection and implementation phases when a project is most at risk of becoming uncoupled from its core vision and strategy. Many organisations fail to apply rigorous portfolio management principles that allow projects to be analysed and prioritised based on their potential to create incremental value as compared to alternative courses of action. Consequently, these organisations have little, if any, insights into the real value potential of the projects from which they must select.

mbh assists organisations in selecting projects that best align to their unique mix of objectives by employing sophisticated portfolio evaluation methods and tools, including net present value (or NPV) evaluations, scenario planning, Monte Carlo simulation, and option pricing.  mbh also optimises project portfolios with prioritisation frameworks, and supports program management initiatives for change programs and targeted portfolio communication strategies.
